Bassam Hamze, the leader of the Brothers 4 Life gang and a convicted murderer, was Hamze’s cousin. Bassam Hamze’s cousin, Hamze, was shot and killed at the intersection of Bridge and Pitt Streets at about 10:30 p.m. on June 17, 2016. At the time, police called it a “brutal, execution-style drive by.”
He was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital quickly, but he died there later.
A burned-out Audi was found on Northwood’s Fleming St. not long after the alleged murder.
Hamze, who was 34, was with a group of friends leaving the restaurant Kid Kyoto when he was shot several times.
Detectives told him at the time that there was a reward for his death.
Hamze’s cousin Mejid Hamze was shot and killed outside of his home in Condell Park in October of last year.
